Over the last 12 weeks, I have notice a big change in my over all fitness and energy level. When I started, I was over weight, felt sluggish and tired, and had a very sore back and knees. During early workouts with Neil, I had difficulty completing many of the exercises and I had trouble balancing.
I have learned how to stretch, and reactivate muscles that I have not used in years; this caused my aches and pains to leave. I have lost 14 pounds of fat and I feel much more energetic, I am able to balance much better, there has been a big change in my posture and I can now complete exercises that I was unable to when I first started. I have learned a completely new way to work out. This has been and exciting and challenging journey.

I started working with Neil in Dec 2009. I had several goals to achieve. I wanted to be able to get into a swim suit this summer, play softball, hike up mountains, and strengthen in all areas of my body. Neil and I discussed all the steps needed to achieve these goals, and we set out to work.


After 4 weeks of personal training with a focus on my core workouts, I noticed that I had dropped from a pant size 12 to a size 8. My balance has also dramatically improved. Neil noticed that I needed some additional help with overall alignment of my body and suggested that I go see a specialized physician. After following this advice, my balance and overall core stability have dramatically improved even more than before.

When I first met Neil in December 2009, he suggested I undergo a health assessment. The testing indicated that I had good strength for a 44 year old, however most of my muscles were extremely tight due to having to compensate for weaker, underutilized muscles. This made perfect sense to me since I have had a desk job for many years and sit most of the day. I decided to engage Neil’s services, and have been extremely pleased with the results.


The first few personal training sessions involved using a foam roller (a product I was unfamiliar with) to break up the tightness and trigger points in the problematic muscles, much the way a deep tissue massage works. What an eye opener! At first, it was very difficult to complete the foam roller exercises without a lot of discomfort. But, the more I worked on the exercises, the easier they became. Today, I use the roller only as needed.
During the next several sessions, Neil showed me how to stretch these same problematic areas that I had worked out with the foam roller. This was a revelation, as I began to feel and use muscles that I either forgot about or didn’t realize I even had. Over the last few sessions, Neil developed a workout plan using an exercise ball to provide stability to my now more flexible body. After only 6 weeks, I had gone from a mindset of physical limitations to one of open possibilities!

WOW! That is the first thing that comes to mind when I think of Neil. I never met a personal trainer like him before. Neil is incredibly friendly and knowledgeable and, if you want, takes the time to teach the reasons behind the various exercise he has given me. While he is comfortable with using precise terminology about specific muscle groups, he doesn't use that knowledge to intimidate or impress his clients as other personal trainers might and do. As a true experienced teacher, he quickly adjusts his explanations so you best understand what he is saying. It is obvious he is passionate about his profession and the years he spent in his own practice shows by the compassion and customer service he exhibits. With a genuinely warm and friendly smile and personal banter, he yet firmly guides you through your routine, always looking for ways to push you to the next level.

Neil is very comfortable working with all levels of client performance. I have had two surgeries on my left knee as a result of a soccer injury. He was quickly able to assess my specific weaknesses and tailored a program that met my unique needs. Since I wanted to eventually be able to perform most of my training by myself, Neil has showed me how the exercises should progress as my performance improves. Even though my overall fitness level was subpar, Neil has never been judgmental, but has objectively described my current state and laid out a road map to get to where I need to be. I am well on that road now. I wish I would have met Neil years ago before my knee injury and before I let my fitness level decrease. It is never too late, though, I know. Thanks Neil!
